SAKO Logistics launches Saudi operations with $80m investment and 500 jobs

SAKO Logistics launches Saudi operations with $80m investment and 500 jobs

SAKO Logistics has formally launched its operations in Saudi Arabia, announcing plans to invest up to US$80 million in the Saudi market and create approximately 500 jobs.

The announcement was made at the company’s official opening ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Al Khobar on 29 October 2026. High-level attendees included representatives from Saudi Aramco, ASMO and Samsung E&A, along with a select group of government officials, representatives of industrial entities, leading EPC contractors, clients and strategic partners.

Investment priorities

The investment package will be used to expand the company’s local transportation fleet, develop its logistics infrastructure and improve efficiency in the project logistics sector, according to SAKO. The company expects the development programme to create approximately 500 new jobs and achieve a Saudization rate of up to 60% as the investment progresses.

Yonghyun Ham, CEO of SAKO Logistics, said: “Saudi Arabia is not simply an overseas market for SAKO. It is our long-term strategic home and a market where we intend to grow together with our clients and partners.”

A Saudi Aramco representative, speaking at the ceremony, emphasised the central importance of continued investment in local logistics capabilities and in building advanced, competitive supply chains in support of the major energy, industrial and infrastructure projects under way across the Kingdom.

Expansion and partnerships

Under its expansion plan, SAKO intends to strengthen its presence and operational capabilities in project logistics, customs clearance, port handling, inland transportation, and heavy and specialised transportation. The company said the aim is to build a more robust, integrated logistics platform able to meet the complex requirements of giga-projects across all regions of the Kingdom.

The event also highlighted SAKO’s strategic cooperation frameworks with ASMO and Samsung E&A. The company plans to strengthen its partnership with ASMO in logistics services and to expand its project logistics cooperation with Samsung E&A through an integrated Strategic Alliance Framework.

Regional ambitions

Through continued investment in advanced equipment, infrastructure and national talent, SAKO says it aims to consolidate its project logistics platform in the Kingdom and contribute to the development of the local logistics sector in line with Saudi Arabia’s long-term development goals. The company also intends to position the Kingdom as a strategic base for expanding its operations across the GCC and the wider Middle East.

SAKO Logistics describes itself as a leading provider of comprehensive logistics services, specialising in advanced transportation solutions and industrial project logistics management. Its integrated range of services includes customs clearance, port handling, inland transportation, and heavy and specialised transportation, which the company says makes it a trusted partner to major companies delivering energy, industrial and infrastructure projects across the region.
