Aramco outlines plan to add six to seven gas facilities by 2027, targeting 80% sales growth by 2030

Expansion plans

Abdulkarim Al-Ghamdi, Aramco’s executive vice president of gas, said the company plans to bring six to seven gas and liquefied gas facilities into operation between 2025 and 2027.

He added that this expansion is intended to raise gas sales by 80% by 2030 relative to the 2020‑2021 baseline.

Infrastructure and geographical advantages

Al-Ghamdi noted that Saudi Arabia is strengthening its gas production capabilities and associated infrastructure to meet growing demand and support the expanding role of natural gas in the energy mix.

He pointed out the geographical distribution of the Kingdom’s oil production assets and export facilities, saying the diversified layout enhances the ability to respond to disruptions and unexpected developments.

Al-Ghamdi also highlighted the extensive gas network, including the Master Gas System, which stretches thousands of kilometres across the country from east to west.

Supply chain resilience and partnerships

According to Al-Ghamdi, more than 90% of the materials required by Aramco during disruptions linked to global conflicts had been sourced locally, underscoring the importance of domestic supply chains for operational continuity.

He said the company also relies on strategic partnerships across various assets and facilities, including refineries and pipeline networks, to strengthen its operational capabilities.

Energy resilience measures

Al-Ghamdi explained that energy resilience goes beyond reacting to crises; it requires anticipating potential disruptions, protecting critical assets, diversifying their geographical locations and ensuring they can continue operating under exceptional circumstances.

He added that Aramco uses integrated operating systems, interconnected supply chains and advanced data analytics to protect facilities, minimise operational risks and reduce the likelihood of disruptions.
